中式傳統廟宇建築的藝術價值與美學，掌握於藝師精緻細膩的技藝展現，透過木雕藝術的精湛雕琢與詮釋，以達畫龍點睛之效，更彰顯中華文化之深厚涵養。蔡楊吉藝師對傳統木雕的堅持，願意提供所學技術，整合義工資源的協助，以文字撰述及影音紀錄彙編成教案書籍，期能保存即將凋零的傳統鑿花技藝。

　　傳統建築架構分為大木作及小木作，本教案以小木作之鑿花技術為運用範疇，題材藉由水族圓光「禮廉傳家」、人物圓光「比箭招親」、窗花「三絲品蓮」等主題，引導初學者應用鑿花技法認識陰刻、陽刻、淺浮雕、深浮雕、透雕等雕鑿方法，透過木雕實作練習、學理及歷史典故，激發對木雕工藝的知識和技能。

　　本教案循序漸進引導初次接觸木雕學習者，從傳統木雕藝術導論，鑿花背景、建築構件、教化意涵、傳統工法等各層面之認識；在施作準備上則對木料選材、主題構思、圖案佈局、圖稿繪製、工具運用、實體物件習作等做詳細之解說，並收錄全國木屬工藝協力資料庫提供讀者參考使用，亦為實用之工具書，讓學習者與教學能相輔相成，達成教學目標。

Summary

　　The artistic value and aesthetics of traditional Chinese temple architecture are mastered in the fine and delicate art show by the artists; and through the woodcarving art of exquisite craftsmanship and interpretation in order to achieve the effect of finishing touch, more manifesting the deep connotation of Chinese culture. The artist Yangji Cai adheres to the traditional woodcarving, willing to provide his learned technology, integrating the resources of volunteers to help letter writing and audio-video recording being compiled into the lesson plan book, expecting able to save the withering of traditional chisel art.

　　Traditional building schema is divided into the big wood masterpieces and the small wood masterpieces, and the lesson plan utilizes the chisel skills of the small wood masterpieces as a category. The subject matters by themes as " Carved Wooden Beams " in aquarium for "Courtesy and probity as a Family Heirloom", " Carved Wooden Beams " in characters for "Archery for Marry the Groom", window grilles for "Three Egrets play in the Lotus Pond", and other topics guide beginners to apply the chisel skills: the method of intaglio carving, protruding carving, shallow relief, deep relief, penetrative carving and so on. Through real woodcarving practices, academic principles, and historical allusions, learners are stimulated on the knowledge and skills of the woodcarving art.
